steel vats, hand plunged.
Total maceration period
between 19 and 21 days.
Aged in 50% french new oak
barriques for 14 months.

was very dry and the gravel

earlier due to some water
stress. |

period 20 days. Aged in 80% french

Unfined and bottled with coarse

year, but thanks to the high water
retention of clay soil, the grapes
could be left on the vine for
a longer period of time compared
to the gravel areas. |

"Our
goal is to craft Pinot Noir
with sheer purity and finesse"
Pinot Noir,
one of the grapes that creat
the finest red wines in the
world, is the type of red wine
grape that I, Hiroyuki KUSUDA,
like the best of all.
My dream is to produce a Pinot
Noir that can be acknowledged
at the highest level. In order
to pursue that dream, I immigrated
to New Zealand with my family
in may 2001, where I believe
has one of the greatest potentials
to grow Pinot Noir. Please keep
an eye on KUSUDA WINES Pinot
Noir. |

| Tasting
notes : |
| Powerful,
meaty nose with
macerated fruit
and a lovely
perfumed bacon-like
edge amid some
sweet, luscious
honey notes.
The palate is
very savoury
with soft tannins,
herby dark fruit,
well balanced
with good acidity.
Hints of green
olives and some
tropical notes
give this wine
excellent depth
with a remarkable
combination
of spiciness
and fruitiness. |

This straw
golden
wine somewhat
reminds
at a Condrieu
from the
Rhone
valley
with aromas
of peachy
spice,
mandarin
citrus
and hints
of cassis
and elderberry.
Good concentration
with hints
of toasty
oak and
honey
nicely
balance
by the
acidity.
Quite
full bodied
wine with
considerable
grip and
length. |
